I haven’t been giving this blog much attention lately, so I’ve spent a good chunk of the past few days freshening things up.
One of the things I’ve noticed is that there is a lot of stuff that made in November and December that I haven’t posted! Here is my favorite card from the past month or so:
This card was for my Splitcoast Stampers little sister. I’d been wanting to try out a stair step card since I’d seen Gretchen Barron’s great holiday one. I used her measurements, except somehow I managed to mis-cut and mine is only 4 1/4″ wide…but it still works. I was also inspired by this photo I took in August which totall fits the Inspired By Nature stamp set.
I wanted to make the grass look a little less one dimensional, so I first inked up the stamp with Old Olive, then used sponge daubers to add Chocolate Chip to the bottom and Always Artichoke on some of the blades. I then tore the tops of the paper to give it a less prim and proper look. I then stamped a few ladybugs…just to keep the grass company.
I stamped the flowers (also using the sponge dauber technique) and then cut them out. Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Snips are fantastic for this kind of cutting. They really allow you to make small cuts and get into tight places on the image.
I wrapped it up with more stamping and distressing (the sentiment), then lots gluing. Doesn’t it look great? I was sad to part with it, but I’m glad that Heather loved it!
