Color Coach inspired scrapbook page

The So Shelli Creative Challenge for August is to use a color combination from Stampin’ Up!’s new Color Coach. I knew I wanted to give this challenge a try, but had originally intended to pick a combo using Bravo Burgundy, a color that I have a really hard time working with.

However, on Friday night I decided to sort through all my scraps and file them away. (I store them by color in clear page protectors in a binder.) As I was working through months of scraps, I discovered that somewhere along the line the scrap pile had a run in with some Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive (ooops). There was this pile of Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and So Saffron strips that were all glued together. I was about to throw them out, when I realized that they would make a really cool embellishment for a scrapbook page.

So I whipped out the Color Coach, looked up Peach Parfait and there it was: Creative Combination – Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, and Not Quite Navy. So I got working on the scapbook page and here is what I came up with:

So, what about the So Saffron? Well, both Pear Pizzazz and Not Quite Navy cards suggest using More Mustard. More Mustard is a Dynamic Duo with So Saffron, which means that they are the same color, just different shades. So Saffron works better with Peach Parfait because it is a lighter shade.

To jazz up the base of the page, I stamped the flower from the hostess set Because I Care repeatedly using Night of Navy ink. For the journaling block I stamped the hydrangea on the So Saffron Top Note die cut using So Saffron ink. It gives that element nice texture without distracting from the text.

In the top right corner is the mess of scraps and Tombow that inspired this whole page. I ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions folder.

I then added some bling using Fire Circle Rhinestone Brads taken out of their settings, and created a small flower using some retired So Saffron grosgrain ribbon.
