This is one of my swaps from the Stampin’ Up! Baltimore Regional.
This isn’t a difficult card to make because the messiness is part of the “look”. The letters were stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock using Broadsheet Alphabet with Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, More Mustard, and Elegant Eggplant. I tore the edges and sponged Crumb Cake on the whole piece. What about that ghostly pattern in the background of the cardstock, you ask? Well, ages ago I’d stamped a retired background stamp on some cardstock using Versamark. Somehow it got mixed back into my regular scraps, and I didn’t realize it until I started to apply the Crumb Cake ink. Sort of works though…talk about a fortuitous mistake!
For the ribbon, I put a running stitch through the Old Olive 1 1/4″ Grosgrain and Victoria Crochet Trim ribbons. I then glued them onto the back of the “Thanks” layer using Sticky Strip, leaving ripples along the way.
Finally, I put a large brad from the Vanilla Hodgepodge through the end (I smooshed it in Early Espresso ink to dull it a bit) and mounted all of that onto a card base made from the Autumn Spice Specialty DSP.
This was the last of the Shabby/Vintage projects; coming up next week are Clean and Simple projects!
