Guess who is lazy tonight…

Me! When I sat down tonight to do a Classy and Elegant Digital card, I started as I always do, from scratch with a clean “canvas”. But as I scrolled through the stamp images, nothing inspired me. So I decided to use one of the Designer Templates that come with My Digital Studio. Here is the template I chose:

It is a pretty card and I could have posted it as is, but that felt a bit like cheating because it was SO EASY!. Also, the style of this card is more clean and simple and could use some more embellishment to step it up to the Classy and Elegant realm. So I decided to fiddle around with it a bit.

To give it more pizzaz, I added one of the Presto Patterns overlays in the background, and changed the color to Ruby Red so that the grid wasn’t so bright it would take away from the flower.

Then I deleted part of the sentiment, and centered it.  (An aside: I can’t stand that “and you thought I forgot”…to me it says “yeah I did almost forget, but I remembered cause Facebook reminded me, so don’t I get some brownie points? Cause your birthday is all about me, right?”).

Anyway…it still needed something, so I added ribbon, a punch, some brackets and some brads until I thought I’d dressed it up enough.

This is how my final version came out:

I’m really pleased with this and my order some to be professionally printed! Using one of the templates was a great way to jump start my creative process – once I pulled it up I wasn’t nearly as overwhelmed as I was before I started!
