NaBloPoMo & Halloween Pup Page

So I’ve decided to give NaBloPoMo a try with OnyxStamps. A number of years ago I’d participated on a personal blog that I wrote for a while. It is quite a challenge to write a post a day for 30 days. Doing this for OnyxStamps will be even tougher, because it means I have to post a craft item a day too! I’ve got a good plan in place though, and have already started tackling a number of projects, as well as identifying items that I haven’t blogged about yet.

Each week will have a theme – one of the 4 styles that Card Style magazine outlines: Shabby & Vintage, Clean & Graphic, Classy & Elegant, and Fun & Cute. This week is Shabby and Vintage. The Moxie Fab blog described this style as:

What makes a card shabby chic? Well, shabby chic is a style characterized by layering. It is soft, utilizing ribbon, lace, and techniques such as inking and distressing. The final product looks comfortable, weathered, and worn.

What makes a card vintage? Vintage goes a step further by adding old images, found items, and antique trinkets to the mix.

So, all the projects you see this week will be somewhere in the Shabby & Vintage family.

In addition to weeks having themes, each day will feature a different type of item. Mondays I’ll be featuring traditional scrapbook pages (as opposed to digital or hybrid). Today’s was inspired by a cute halloween picture of my dog, Albie. I was trying to fix his “red eye” (which is actually yellow eye) but it just kept looking stranger and stranger. So I decided to go with it and just make his eyes psycho green.

This is a small page, just 6×6″, so there isn’t a lot of real estate to spare – just enough room for a small picture and a title. To give it a Shabby look I distressed the edges of practically everything on the page by ripping, inking, and stamping with my favorite new stamps set, French Foliage. (French Foliage has a fantastic water splatter stamp that make everything look instantly distressed.)

Because of the demands of NaBloPoMo, I’m skipping recipes for November. Leave a comment if you have a question about any of the products or techniques used!
