Baby shower thank you
I made a bunch of this card for my friend who just had the baby. She loves handmade cards and I knew she’d love having a set to send out as thank you (I was right!) I also made a coordinating bag to hold the cards: Lots of retired product was used on this gift. The current stuff is the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Scallop Envelope Die and a bunch of...
Read MoreBuild-a-House
As promised yesterday, here is how my Build-a-House turned out: This was a fun and fairly easy project to complete. It is covered in retired holiday paper, Chocolate Chip cardstock for the trim, chocolate waffle paper for the roof, and Illuminate Smooch on all the trim to give it a glimmer. I do have some tips on assembling the house: The instructions say to adhere the paper to the chipboard before assembling. I would add one thing – since every piece has some sort of score line, I adhered one “face” at a time. I didn’t do that on the first piece I put together (the...
Read MoreClassy and Elegant week – 3D thanksgiving hostess gift.
So last night I slacked off a bit and didn’t explain this week’s style, Classy and Elegant. Here is how the Moxie Fab blog describes it: “The classy and elegant style is polished. A shiny finish, sparkling embellishments, a rich color scheme, and sophisticated sentiment treatments are all part of the classy and elegant pedigree. Its look is regal, stunning, and dashing. And while its lines are clean, sweeping, and dramatic, it can also incorporate monochromatic color schemes with layered textures that awe and impress equally as well.” Here’s this weeks 3D item....
Read MoreCorner bookmark
I’ve been meaning to try this fun bookmark tutorial for a while now and I thought it would be a good fit for the Clean and Graphic style since there isn’t much “real estate” to fuss with. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Boy is it hard not to add layers, and bling, and piercings. I even whined about it on Twitter. After a first attempt that you will probably see during Classy and Elegant week, I had to go back to the drawing board. Here’s the result: I thought the “a little wiser” sentiment was perfect for a bookmark, because I like to think that reading makes us...
Read MoreDreams Du Jour Shabby Chic Journal
NABLOPOMO Tuesday posts will be 3D items. Today’s is an small altered journal that features the set Dreams Du Jour and a lot of retired paper and ribbon. It is hard to see in the photo, but the splatter and script stamps from French Foliage also makes an appearance. Some tips for distressing DSP. I used similar inks to the colors appear in the DSP. So for the rose print on the front, I started with Pink Pirouette, layered on Old Olive, and then finished off with some Crumb Cake. Crumb Cake is a fantastic color to give a grubby aged look without making everything too dark. Because of...
Read MoreAlmost Artisan – 3D Item: Wristlet
This is my the other 3D item I made for the Artisan Awards. The colors of this photo are a little “off” – in person the colors are truly Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, and So Saffron. I purchased a wristlet pattern that looked pretty straightforward and then adapted it so that I could use the Scallop Envelope die for a front pocket and make the strap from SU! ribbon. I used MDS to create a pattern that I then printed on my printer using printable fabric. I used Printed Treasures and was extremely happy with how the fabric turned out. It prints on 8 1/2 x 11″ sheets and the...
