True Friend
Here is today’s digital Clean and Simple card: The base is Crumb Cake, the butterfly is Elegant Eggplant, the texture is Early Espresso, and the sentiment is Basic Black. One of the great things about digital stamping is that you get to change the size of the images. For this card I knew I wanted the sentiment “True friend” to stand out, but its original size is much smaller than the butterfly. So I increased its size so that it would stand out better. I also used the Textured “stamp” to give the base more character (if I’d been using real Crumb Cake there...

This is one of my swaps from the Stampin’ Up! Baltimore Regional. This isn’t a difficult card to make because the messiness is part of the “look”. The letters were stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock using Broadsheet Alphabet with Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, More Mustard, and Elegant Eggplant. I tore the edges and sponged Crumb Cake on the whole piece. What about that ghostly pattern in the background of the cardstock, you ask? Well, ages ago I’d stamped a retired background stamp on some cardstock using Versamark. Somehow it got mixed back into...

Here is a quick 3×3″ hybrid card that I made. The color combo is from Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge 295: Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso. The Glamour Girl charm is from an old watch band that I’ve had hanging around. So, how is this hybrid? Well, I made the background card base in MDS. I chose a patterned Early Espresso background, then covered it in text boxes with the words “Glamour Girl” to match the charm. Also, I printed a ticket frame since I don’t have a stamp like that. (Another perk of MDS…it is like expanding your...

Friday I attended the Stampin’ Up! Baltimore Regional. It was a really great time – I learned some good tricks, met some fun fellow stampers, and got some really great swaps. Here is a slide show of the display boards. The boards without titles are the swaps that were submitted to the SU!...

Browsing online yesterday, I ran across the Louisa Settee from Anthropologie. It reminded me so much of the scrap aftermath from one of my ripped up distressed cards. I thought it would be fun to reinterpret this as a card. Using my Color Coach I decided that Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Night of Navy, and Whisper White would be a good combination. I really love the large swatches of color in the Color Coach – it makes working with colors so much easier than whole pieces of card stock! I used Bashful Blue as the card base, and cut 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of the other...

I love the Moxie Fab World blog and Cath picks the most fantastic pictures for the Tuesday Triggers. This week I was really drawn to the bright colors in the Light and Bright challenge. I decided to pair it up with Clean and Simple sketch #98 since the room in the picture has such clean lines and crisp colors. I typically don’t use sketches, but the clean and simple style does not come easily to me and I didn’t want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted to do. Having picked the sketch, I focused on the colors, deciding on More Mustard, Tempting...
