Pinspired: Cereal Box Mail Sorter
Like may of us, I’m totally addicted to Pinterest. There is such great inspiration there…from project ideas to beautiful photos, I have whole boards devoted to ideas I want to use in my crafting. The Cereal Box sorter below inspired my most recent Pinspired Project…the Cereal Box Mail Organizer. What I loved about this project is that it re-purposes something we’d throw away – it made me feel “green” and crafty and organized. The problem that led me to making the mail sorter is that when I come in with the mail, I open/sort it on my radiator and...

Well, my plan for NaBloPoMo week 2 was to do color challenges, but I’ve still got a bunch of projects that I’ve never posted, so I’m going to just keep working through them. While I haven’t posted anything “new”, I have been a very busy crafter, working on projects for a craft show I’m doing on Nov. 19th. I’m hoping to start posting pictures of those projects next week. So here’s today’s card, which I made sometime in the...

This past week I’ve posted a bunch of projects that I submitted to magazines for publication that weren’t selected (boo!), but today I have a card that was published! I made this card in April and it was published in the October 2011 issue of CARDS Magazine. I call this “Jen’s card” because my neighbor Jen is this card’s biggest cheerleader. I mentioned earlier that I’m part of a group of neighbors who get togther at a coffee shop occasionally to work on creative stuff together. Well, Jen is part of that group and in April I was working on this...

I had a lot of fun making this card, especially the background on the right. I used the Canvas Stripes stamp from Hero Arts – stamping it in one color, then rotated the paper and stamped again in a second color to make a fun plaid background. I mounted the plaid background on the card base with some patterned paper from Making Memories’ Dilly Dally collection. I zig zag stitched at the seam between the two, then added the embellishments and...

Another card I made this summer – most of the supplies are retired Stampin’ Up! products. The funny thing about that purple chipboard frame is that I actually inked with Chocolate Chip classic ink…who knew? Colored in with markers and then Crystal Effects on the cherries to make them look juicy and...

This is a fun card made with Stampin’ Up!’s Funky Four set. The mushrooms were stamped and then colored in with a contrasting color. I cut them out and then covered them with Crystal Effects to make them nice and shiny. The background of the card is Stampin’ Up!’s Woodgrain stamp, and the text is Calendar Alphabet & Numbers. Finally, I did some outlining in black to make things pop a bit more. All supplies are from Stampin’...
