I’ve been waiting for a couple weeks to post this card. I’m part of a Secret Sister Swap and this is the first card that I sent my “little sister”. September’s challenge was to send a card using your school’s colors. I chose my grad school, UNC.
This was my scrapbook page for my first layout of GotSketch102. The idea is to use 3 vertical 4×6 photos with coordinating papers/accents. I decided to scrap my trip to the Mystery Spot last summer. I settled on the idea of using spots throughout, so I dug deep into my stack of retired paper for my remaining sheets of Dashing (retired). I then coordinated with So Saffron card stock and retired pattern paper.
I’m a card maker, so I don’t have a ton of stamps/accessories to use for scrapbooking, so I had to make stuff up. I took Very Vanilla card stock and punched holes in it with the Crop-A-Dile for the borders on the top and bottom. I used my Coluzzle to cut out circles and ovals for my titles and journaling. Then I used my black Stampin’ Write marker and made black circles on the black card stock. I had a non-SU! embellishment that I traced onto So Saffron and cut out for the label on the bottom.
Although it is kind of rough around the edges, I’m pretty proud of this page. This was truly a limited supply page. I had to experiment quite a bit to find ways to spice up the layout. It is fun and silly and everything that day with my friend Zita was.
I’ve been an insomniac all Labor Day weekend…staying up until the wee hours wide awake. Last night I decided to give this week’s Splitcoast Stampers Tutorial a whirl. Isn’t it great? It is just a bit shorter than a standard card, so it fits into a Medium Envelope!
I love how the Posy stamp works with the Say it With Scallops Thank You stamp. I now NEED to have the new Scallop Square punch! I cut that out by hand using Paper Snips and the punch would have made it much easier. Three of stamps in the Say It with Scallops set coordinate with that punch, as do two of the stamps in the Punches Three Level 1 Hostess set. Read the rest of this entry »
This is my first scrapbook page ever! I’m taking the online Got Sketch 102 scrapbook class. A friend took the 101 class and loved it, so I thought I’d give it a try. The page I made above was for a preclass challenge. They gave us a sketch and a list of items/techniques to try to use in our page. I managed to use 4: chipboard, ribbons, scallops, and bling.
For the title, I covered chipboard with Whisper White Craft Ink. I wasn’t nuts about it, so I covered them in Tempting Turquoise Classic ink to match the mats underneath the photos and the designer paper. The photo corners are actually a scalloped frame I cut in half. I covered it in Whisper White Craft Ink as well, and then embellished them with some sparkly contraband (non-SU! stuff) I got at Target today.

Here is the card that was inspired by by Sigg bottle and Kristina Werner’s Color Challenge this week. The card is 3″x6″ - the first time I’ve made this size card, and I loved it!
On the same day that I was inspired by my SIGG bottle:
Kristina Werner posts this color challenge:
Stay tuned.
Last week at work I finally got an iMac. I do a fair amount of basic graphic design for my company and stepping up to the Adobe Creative Suite will help tremendously. Today I’m working on a poster for an event we are having in a couple weeks. It is a cowboy theme, so I channelled SU! alter-ego and immediately thought Earth Elements! Thankfully I’d bookmarked StampMonkeys: RGB Values for SU! Colors! recently. I’m going to use Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive on the poster.
Using the RGB (or CYMK) values is a great way to extend your creative side beyond typical card making. Use it on computer generated documents…no worrying about your color pallet! This is also a great way to personalize your cards and scrapbook pages with custom sentiments/journaling.
Walking my dog Albie this week I passed this great bunch of Black Eyed Susans. I immediately thought of the Inspired By Nature stamp set I received at the Stampin’ Up! convention earlier this month. I partiuclarly loved the purple ones…not a color I would have thought of to use. The color is actually a bit washed out in this photo though…that is too much of my cell phone camera! Behind these flowers was a very tall bunch of decorative grasses…just like the other part of the stamp set!
This week I’m going to work on a card inspired by this photo. Will somehow have to make due with out sponge daubers though!
Welcome to my new blog! Here I’m going to focus on my creative endeavors…my inspirations, my successes and my failures. Most posts will be about paper crafts (cards, scrapbooks, etc) but who knows, if I’m particularly proud of something I’ve photographed or cooked or built…that may show up too.
At the top you’ll see a link “Art Gallery”. This is where you’ll find photos of my “work” (ha ha…doesn’t that make me sound like an artist?). On the left are links to my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator website - in case you are interested in ordering, hosting a workshop, or attending one of my Stampin’ Up! events. There are allso some website that I go to when I need inspiration.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you come back often!
