Almost Artisan – Scrapbook Page #1: Gazpacho
For the past few years I’ve been a member of a CSA (community supported agriculture) farm share. Throughout the summer and fall I pick up a box of fruit and veggies at my local produce stand. I never know what will be in the box and it has made me a more adventurous cook. One of my favorite things to make during the summer is Gazpacho, so I thought that a recipe scrapbook page would be a great way to capture my CSA experience. This page is made mostly from paper and embellishments from the soon to be retired Write Stuff Specialty paper. The letters on the left are cut using the...

The inspiration for this card came from a couple different places. The idea of doing a card that was inside a room looking out at the Eiffel Tower had been bouncing around in my head for a while. The original draft of this included the bird cage off to the side. The layout didn’t really work, so I scrapped the bird cage to just focus on the window. This is one of the 3D items that I submitted for the Artisan Awards. The flower is made from Patterns DSP (Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Old Olive) and is on a Definitely Decorative Chunky Frame decorated with a Definitely Decorative Scallop Frame, and hand cut petals based on the Cheep Talk Definitely Decorative Stencil. The flower is not as difficult to make as it seems. It is time consuming, but as long as you can glue and bend paper, you are set. It is a great project to work on while you watch tv, because it is repetitive and a bit mindless. Here is the tutorial and template: [slideshare...

I’ve finally got my Artisan project photos all edited, and have started writing my posts about them. So starting today I’ll be posting one Almost Artisan project a week – roughly in the order I created them. Here is Card #1 – Cupcake: This card was inspired by a photograph of Liz Lemon’s cupcake pajamas in Entertainment Weekly. I’d originally imagined it as a standard sized card with a bunch of color blocks with a cupcake on each. But when I mocked that up I was really unimpressed with it. So then I decided to scale down to one cupcake on a...
