Hydrangea Box
I’ve been busy making all sorts of projects that I’ll be submitting for contests, magazines, etc, and this box was one of them. But as I was making it, I started falling in love with it and knew that I had to keep it all to myself. It is an altered wooden box that is covered with the Paisley Petals DSP from which is from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. This card was quite a journey. It started as a card for a Splitcoast Stampers challenge where the image was supposed to be “entwined” in some way. The plan was for the butterfly “tails” entwine, but wow did that notwork! But I loved the rest of the card, so I added a sentiment instead. Don’t you just love the “frame”? To make it I ran a piece of Wild Wasabi card stock through the Big Shot with the Framed Tulips embossing folder, trimmed the outside and then used my hobby blade and a ruler to cut out the middle. The So Shelli Creative Challenge for August is to use a color combination from Stampin’ Up!’s new Color Coach. I knew I wanted to give this challenge a try, but had originally intended to pick a combo using Bravo Burgundy, a color that I have a really hard time working with. However, on Friday night I decided to sort through all my scraps and file them away. (I store them by color in clear page protectors in a binder.)
